What is Long Covid?
Long Covid is a term to describe signs and symptoms that continue or develop after an acute infection of COVID.
It can be referred to as:
- Ongoing Symptomatic Covid where symptoms last 4 weeks.
- Post- COVID Syndrome where ongoing symptoms continue longer for 12 weeks and cannot be explained by any other condition.
The most commonly reported symptoms are
- Breathlessness
- Cough
- Chest tightness
- Palpitations
- Fatigue
- Fever
- pain
- Brain Fog
- Headaches
- Sleep disturbances
- Dizziness
- Abdominal Pain
- Nausea
- Diarohea
- Weight loss
- Eating disorder or reduced appetite.
- Joint pain
- Depression and anxiety
- Tinnitus
- Earache
- Loss of taste/smell
- Skin Rashes
What to expect throughout your recovery?
Everyone's experience is different to everyone and the length of recovery is not always dependant upon the length or severity of your illness. If you do have any ongoing symptoms or your symptoms are causing you further problems please contact your GP practice.
